赤道太平洋における過去の海洋環境変動の解明
（航海名：Pacific Equatorial Age Transect (PEAT)）
地球の気候は、これまで温暖な時期と寒冷な時期を繰り返してきた。
約５千万年前までは両極に氷床の無い温暖な時期が続き、その後南極の氷床の存在が確かめられている約３３００万年前以降から地球は寒冷になり始めたと考えられている。現在の地球温暖化の原因とされている二酸化炭素濃度に関しては、４千万年前には現在の３〜５倍、３千万年前には２倍もあり、ほぼ現在のレベルまで減少したのは２千万年前以降であると考えられている。

赤道太平洋における過去の海洋環境変動の解明
（航海名：Pacific Equatorial Age Transect (PEAT)）
地球の気候は、これまで温暖な時期と寒冷な時期を繰り返してきた。
約５千万年前までは両極に氷床の無い温暖な時期が続き、その後南極の氷床の存在が確かめられている約３３００万年前以降から地球は寒冷になり始めたと考えられている。現在の地球温暖化の原因とされている二酸化炭素濃度に関しては、４千万年前には現在の３〜５倍、３千万年前には２倍もあり、ほぼ現在のレベルまで減少したのは２千万年前以降であると考えられている。

（航海名：Pacific Equatorial Age Transect (PEAT)）
地球の気候は、これまで温暖な時期と寒冷な時期を繰り返してきた。
約５千万年前までは両極に氷床の無い温暖な時期が続き、その後南極の氷床の存在が確かめられている約３３００万年前以降から地球は寒冷になり始めたと考えられている。現在の地球温暖化の原因とされている二酸化炭素濃度に関しては、４千万年前には現在の３〜５倍、３千万年前には２倍もあり、ほぼ現在のレベルまで減少したのは２千万年前以降であると考えられている。
