"太陽の大規模磁場の極性の反転は22年周期で起こることが知られている。黒点数で代表される太陽活動度は、その22年の間に２回の増減を繰り返すので、11年の周期を見せる。
あけぼの衛星は既に20年間観測を継続しており、更に2年間運用を継続して22年間の連続したデータを取得すれば、あらゆる太陽の局面に対する磁気圏の観測の完結という、重要な仕事を成し遂げることが出来る。
近年打ち上げられた衛星・地上との同時観測
2005年打ち上げのれいめい衛星や、2007年打ち上げのTHEMIS衛星と、異なる高度において同時観測を行うことによって、オーロラ発光に関る現象が、地球に近づくにつれて発達・変化していく様子が観測できる。また、2007年夏期に打ち上げられたかぐや衛星によって、プラズマ圏や極域からのイオン流出の撮像が行われている。
同一磁力線上における地上との同時観測によって、磁気圏と電離圏の相互作用について大きく理解が進む。"

近年打ち上げられた衛星・地上との同時観測

"太陽の大規模磁場の極性の反転は22年周期で起こることが知られている。黒点数で代表される太陽活動度は、その22年の間に２回の増減を繰り返すので、11年の周期を見せる。
あけぼの衛星は既に20年間観測を継続しており、更に2年間運用を継続して22年間の連続したデータを取得すれば、あらゆる太陽の局面に対する磁気圏の観測の完結という、重要な仕事を成し遂げることが出来る。
近年打ち上げられた衛星・地上との同時観測
2005年打ち上げのれいめい衛星や、2007年打ち上げのTHEMIS衛星と、異なる高度において同時観測を行うことによって、オーロラ発光に関る現象が、地球に近づくにつれて発達・変化していく様子が観測できる。また、2007年夏期に打ち上げられたかぐや衛星によって、プラズマ圏や極域からのイオン流出の撮像が行われている。
同一磁力線上における地上との同時観測によって、磁気圏と電離圏の相互作用について大きく理解が進む。"
