PTCLはパキスタン最大手の通信企業で、同国のネットワークインフラのほとんどを制御している。今回の件を知る複数の筋によると、同社は国内で YouTubeを遮断しようとしただけだった。だがルータの操作を誤り、YouTubeがダウンしてしまったとこの件をよく知る2人のパキスタン筋は説明している。
同社は単に、YouTubeからパキスタンへのトラフィックを遮断しようとしただけだったという。このプロセスは「ブラックホーリング」と呼ばれる。同社のネットワークに送られた命令は、国内のトラフィックのみを対象とするはずだった。だがどういうわけか、そのメッセージが世界中のインターネットで複製され、ほかのISPでもYouTubeへのアクセスに問題が起き始めた。

PTCLはパキスタン最大手の通信企業で、同国のネットワークインフラのほとんどを制御している。今回の件を知る複数の筋によると、同社は国内で YouTubeを遮断しようとしただけだった。だがルータの操作を誤り、YouTubeがダウンしてしまったとこの件をよく知る2人のパキスタン筋は説明している。
同社は単に、YouTubeからパキスタンへのトラフィックを遮断しようとしただけだったという。このプロセスは「ブラックホーリング」と呼ばれる。同社のネットワークに送られた命令は、国内のトラフィックのみを対象とするはずだった。だがどういうわけか、そのメッセージが世界中のインターネットで複製され、ほかのISPでもYouTubeへのアクセスに問題が起き始めた。
