スペクトル線
古典的新星
恒星の性質は、分光観測で得られたスペクトル線の振る舞いから知ることができる。新星の場合、そのスペクトル線で水素のバルマー線に強い輝線がみられるものを古典的新星と呼んでいる。

SKA : Square Kilometre Array
The SKA | Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics
The Square Kilometre Array (SKA)
The SKA is a multi-purpose radio telescope, covering the frequency range from 70 MHz to >25 GHz, that will play a major role in answering key questions in modern astrophysics and cosmology.
"PrepSKA - the Preparatory Phase for the SKA
PrepSKA is a global endeavour involving funding agencies and scientists working together to explore the appropriate legal, policy and technical framework required for the SKA. It is a 3 year €22 M project (€5.5 M from European Community Framework Programme 7 funds), which commenced on 1 April 2008.
It is expected that further funding for one year will be provided by the EC, extending the end date to 31 March 2012."

The Swift Gamma Ray Burst Explorer

NASA's Swift Gamma Ray Burst Explorer, which orbits Earth 370 miles up, explores the universe in the optical, ultraviolet, X rays, and gamma rays. Swift has revolutionized astronomers' understanding of gamma-ray bursts -- the biggest explosions since the big bang. In between these almost daily blasts, Swift is making the most detailed survey of the sky in high-energy X rays and is studying supernovae, galaxies and comets. Swift was launched in late 2004."

The Swift Gamma Ray Burst Explorer (Space/USA)

The Swift Gamma Ray Burst Explorer

NASA's Swift Gamma Ray Burst Explorer, which orbits Earth 370 miles up, explores the universe in the optical, ultraviolet, X rays, and gamma rays. Swift has revolutionized astronomers' understanding of gamma-ray bursts -- the biggest explosions since the big bang. In between these almost daily blasts, Swift is making the most detailed survey of the sky in high-energy X rays and is studying supernovae, galaxies and comets. Swift was launched in late 2004."
