NASA's KEPLER MISSION DISCOVERS TWO PLANETS TRANSITING SAME STAR - ARC
NASA's Kepler Mission has discovered the first confirmed planetary system with more than one planet transiting
the same star. The announcement of the discovery of the two planets, Kepler 9b and 9c, is based on seven months of
observations of more than 156,000 stars being monitored for subtle brightness changes as part of an ongoing search for
Earth-size planets outside our solar system. Scientists designated the sun-like star Kepler-9.

ITEM 3 - ALPHA MAGNETIC SPECTROMETER ARRIVES AT KENNEDY FOR STS-134 SHUTTLE MISSION - KSC
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) arrived at the NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., on Aug. 26. The state-of-the-art
device to further our understanding of the universe will launch to the International Space Station next year during space
shuttle Endeavour's STS-134 mission, the last scheduled space shuttle flight.
It arrived aboard an Air Force C-5M aircraft at the Shuttle Landing Facility and was offloaded for transport to Kennedy's
Space Station Processing Facility where it will be prepared for flight.
Among the people on-hand for the arrival were Joe Delai, Kennedy's STS-134 payload manager; Samuel Ting, of the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who is AMS' principal investigator and a Nobel Prize-winning physicist; Mark
Sistilli, NASA's AMS program manager; and the six astronauts of the STS-134 mission, including Commander Mark Kelly.
AMS, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, is a particle physics detector constructed, tested and operated
by an international team representing 16 countries. Endeavour's STS-134 mission is targeted to launch Feb. 26, 2011.
